This page illustrates how movement of the hand control lever raises or lowers the lift arms.

paint is the wrong shade, some of the bearings are shot, and the
spring looks as if it might drop off soon...
Notice that when the control lever pushes the top of the control fork to the right (forward), the control fork pivots about point "a", so that the control valve is pulled to the left (rearward). The valve is drawn in much simplified form, and shows how oil is pumped into the ram cylinder, or released from the ram, or neither (neutral position). |
