Early 1957 FE 4-cylinder Diesel (Standard 23C Engine); SN: SDM 12XXX This is a very original tractor recently serviced by an ex-MF-trained mechanic and now in good running order. Man 7.5 ton recovery lorry and sleeping cab I have owned this lorry since 2005, I bought it with 93,741 miles on the clock, it now has 135,120 which is 41,379 miles that I have driven it in 13 years, an average of just over 3,000 miles per year. It was built in 1996. It is a very reliable and nifty lorry, it will cruise at 70mph if you want it to with a load on, but for fuel economy, I tend to drive a 60-65 mph, as it’s a 7.5-ton lorry it can be driven on a car licence if your test was taken before 1997. It is fitted with a TACO but this is not required if it’s for private use. It drives like a car, just a bit bigger! It can sleep one person with a day room or if the bed is extended out it will easily sleep 2 (or 3 people depending on your sleeping habits) The lorry bed with the sleeping cab on, will take a tractor and plough or equivalent. Hi I have a 51 TED20 petrol/paraffin I have been speaking to a few owners of the same model as mine and I have had all different opinions on what to run it on, some say straight Paraffin after starting it on petrol to warm the engine then switch it over to paraffin, some say mix petrol with paraffin then I heard that some run them on some kind of domestic heating oil, I would like to hear from Petrol/paraffin Fregie owners on there views on this, i went to a show yesterday with the Tractor and although it was only about a 15 mile all round trip it used about £15 worth of petrol so a cheaper fuel would be great, the other Question I have is when driving the Tractor on the road and in top gear how much throttle do you normally use I know they only do about 12-15 mph tops but what I need to know is do you drive on full throttle or would you say that is pushing it to its limit or is full throttle the normal running of the tractor? I found that on mine anything under full throttle it was just chugging along at about 5mph is running at top speed on full throttle doing it any harm or are they built that way again I would like to hear from other Fergie owners as this is my first tractor and still learning about them cheers Folks
